Family Of Schools
Our Primary Family of Schools
We have 9 primary schools which are part of the St Wilfrid’s Family of schools. These are: Feniscowles, Griffin Park, Lammack, St Aidan’s, St Barnabas & St Paul, St Francis, St Gabriel’s, St Luke & St Philip’s and Wensley Fold. These schools have been part of our wider family for 9 years and in that time we have formed very close links. We aim to assist and support our primary schools on a number of levels. The majority of our support is ‘hands on’ whereby teaching staff from St Wilfrid’s visit our primary feeders on a regular basis to assist with ICT, Maths, Music, Drama and Religious Education. Our Science department run the CREST award at St Wilfrid’s which is a 12 week programme aimed at raising attainment in science for upper key stage 2.
Where possible we help with financial support to enhance teaching and learning. This may be in the form of new ICT or music equipment or perhaps a new maths scheme of work. We also have provided funding so that our primary schools can provide exciting theme days for their pupils, which we know they really appreciate. Recently we helped Griffin Park with an exciting science based road show which everyone enjoyed. We received the following letter from the school.
“Just a short note to let you know what a great impact your support and funding had in making our science week a great success. The funding enabled us to amaze and mystify the children. We had a full day visit from Star Chaser. The children were engaged in workshops building their own rockets and then launching them outdoors. We had a whole school assembly and a fantastic rocket launch on the school field as a finale to the day. We even made the local press! The children thoroughly enjoyed the day from the children in the Nursery through to Year 6. The feedback from the children and parents in our questionnaires was extremely positive. The knowledge of facts which the children had retained and their enthusiasm to explore this further showed us that it had been an immensely successful day. We cannot thank you enough in funding this activity which has promoted science within our school and also planted the seed for further development and aided in creating our scientists of the future”
Many thanks

On behalf of all staff and pupils at Griffin Park School
Though we visit on a regular basis all our primary schools know that we are only a phone call away and are happy to help. These strong links help to promote transition for our year 6 pupils into year 7 which we know the staff and pupils find invaluable.
