AS and A2 LEVEL
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

to encourage personal development by promoting learning and social skills.
ASSIGNMENTS
At least three or four pieces of written
and/or learning homework each week.
CONTENTS
Five lessons are taught per week using AQA French by Nelson Thornes as the main course book. This is supplemented by a variety of authentic resources.
Students are encouraged to take an active role in their own development. We recommend that they invest in a French journal, a good dictionary, and spend some time in France.
ASSESSMENT
There are two exams at the end of each year. One is a spoken exam and one a written exam which also assesses Listening and Reading skills.
USEFULNESS IN THE FUTURE
The course is designed to cater for students intending to embark on a traditional honours degree in Languages or one of the many newer degree courses with a Modern Language component. It would also be useful for students for whom the study of a language might provide a useful secondary skill. The ability to communicate in a European Language is increasingly becoming an asset for job seekers.
