AS and A2 Level

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
5 GCSEs A* - C grades including a C in English Language and Mathematics and C grades in two other GCSE written subjects eg English Literature, History, RE and Sociology.

CONTENT
Unit 1: Families and Households
Unit 2: Education and Research Methods
Unit 3: Beliefs in Society
Unit 4: Crime and Deviance

ASSESSMENT
There are 4 external examinations. Units 1 and 2 are sat in the Lower Sixth Year (AS). Units 3 and 4 are sat in the Upper Sixth Year (A2).

USEFULNESS FOR THE FUTURE
Sociology enables students to develop their understanding and awareness of the society we live in. It helps them appreciate the reasons for human social behaviour in different contexts such as the family, education, religion and crime.
Sociology is useful for careers in the Police, teaching, medicine and politics.
