28.05.2010 - Year 10 Drama Success

The Year 10 GCSE Drama group have succeeded in a bid for a unique opportunity to perform at the O2 Arena with eight other schools on Tuesday, 13th July. We were complimented on our creativity and thoughtfulness and the Shakespeare School Festival staff said places had been hard won against specialist Arts colleges who are normally chosen.

Year 10 are already part of the festival performing 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at Thwaites Empire Theatre, Blackburn on Monday, 1st November, but this opportunity to produce a piece of street theatre for a huge audience prior to the Transformation Trust's Big Show (where the group will then get to see 'X-Factor' contestants and acts from 'Got to Dance' including the winners of the 2009/2010 'UK Street Dance Champions') is a real honour and a testament to their enthusiasm and talent. Many thanks to Miss Patchett and Miss Holden for helping them to achieve this. We'd actually managed to keep this a secret from the group for a few days and the Lancashire Evening Telegraph captured the moment they were told yesterday which was electric.
