For those pursuing the very best universities, apprenticeships, or looking for a career in medicine, dentistry or veterinary medicine, we have an exclusive range of clubs that will help you prepare in the best possible way.

Watch the video and continue reading below to learn more about each of these specialist groups.
MDV (Medicine-Dentistry-Veterinary)
This is for students interested in pursuing a career in medicine, dentistry or veterinary science. The programme gives a holistic overview of the medicine industry and the career paths/medical schools available, as well as including practical sessions such as dissection. You will also be coached through the process for your application to university.
HE+ (Higher Education Plus)
This group is designed for students wanting to apply for the top universities. You will work on tasks and attend outings that will enhance your application and give you the best chance possible for getting in to the university of your choice. You will also attend several lectures from top professors and take a trip to the University of Cambridge.
HAP (Higher Apprenticeship Pathway)
This is for students who are looking to gain a qualification through a different route from university. It is a practical series of meetings that explore the benefits of the higher apprenticeship route and the ways in which you can stand out from other applicants. You will also look at common application questions and a variety of aptitude tests.
Our high-calibre careers advice and guidance is one of the real strengths at St Wilfrid’s Sixth Form. We offer tailored sessions with each student, providing an unprecedented level of support throughout your time with us.

Students have gone on to secure places at top universities, as well as apprenticeships and jobs at some of the most distinguished companies across the country.
Every Sixth Form student will get a number of opportunities to ‘give back’ to younger students at the Academy through a vast array of mentoring, ambassador and coaching programmes.

MENTORING (Literacy / Maths)
Some students really thrive in a one-to-one setting and with your help, we can offer this level of support to more of our young learners. We have popular Literacy and Numeracy mentoring programmes for KS3 and really value the input our Sixth Formers can bring.

AMBASSADORS (Specialist in a subject?)
We love to utilise your passion and knowledge of a particular subject to help inspire the learning of younger students. This can be done through classroom support in KS3/4 lessons and by representing the subject at Open Evenings.

COACHING (PE/Sports Clubs)
Sport at St Wilfrid’s is an extremely popular and competitive extra-curricular activity for all year groups. Because of this, there are many opportunities to develop your coaching skills and ways to be a role model for sportsmanship, something that every young athlete needs.
