Making It Clear

“All of us who are mature should think in this same way. And if any of you think differently, God will make it clear to you.”
Philippians 3:15

How do you keep your thinking clear? Metals are extracted in a chemical process called electrolysis. During this process, large amounts of energy are required to melt the metal compound and provide a large enough current to separate the elements. The purpose is to break bonds that have been formed and produce a pure substance.

In this verse, we read of Paul encouraging his those he is writing to, to have clear thinking towards the goal. How easy can it be to have a wrong goal or to focus on what is not as important? Have you found it difficult recently to keep the main thing as the main thing?

Jesus was an expert at focus. His race was set, his path was prepared. But he showed endurance to the end:

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:1-3

Let us take time this week to consider how we may have made what we do less clear. Are there processes in our daily walk or habits that hinder us from reaching our goal? Ask God to remind you of the main thing and ask him to help you focus your time and attention on the race marked out for you.

What is your response?
