We aim to make the transition process from Primary School as smooth as possible for all of our current and future students and have devised a strategy that encompasses their journey before, during and after the transition. This is a crucial time in a young person’s life and we strive to give a ‘wrap-around care’ approach to enable this phase to be seamless, with high-challenge and low anxiety.
Prior to joining the Academy, we visit each student at their Primary school, getting to know them and talking with their current class teacher. We seek to learn about their academic, social and emotional needs, as well as their plethora of talents.
We then enter the summer season with 3 important events:
Our Year 6 Parent Induction Evening will take place on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd June 6pm – 7pm and will be broadcast virtually. Further information about how to access the event will be released on the Year 7 2021 page and our social media channels closer to the event.
This morning is for students who are the only ones coming to St Wilfrid’s from their particular school.
We are delighted to have been given the go-ahead to hold face-to-face transition days at the Academy this year, which will allow us to formally welcome our new students and provide 3 full days for them to experience life as a Wilfridian!
These will take place on Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th July 8:40am – 3pm (inclusive) and will help your child experience life as a Wilfridian and see more of what the Academy has to offer. It is also a great opportunity for them to make new friends, meet our staff and for us to get to know them ahead of their start in September.
When September comes around and the academic year begins, the first two days are spent doing activities that help them become familiar with the environment and get to know each other and their Form Tutor.
Our Year 7 Student Support Team work closely with Form Tutors throughout the year, to provide a network of support for both students and parents. For any further information, please contact the Key Stage 3 POD.
