Saint Wilfrid’s Church of England Academy is celebrating another year of exceptional academic achievement, with pupils once again raising the bar for excellence.
This year’s results showcase remarkable dedication and talent across every subject. In the Sciences, an astounding 99% of pupils achieved passes in the more challenging separate disciplines of Biology and Chemistry, with 93% excelling in Physics.
Languages and the arts have shone just as brightly — in French, an impressive 25% of pupils secured the coveted Grade 9, while Music saw 20% reach the very top grade. Core subjects continue to thrive, with 83% of pupils achieving a 9–4 grade in English and 75% in Mathematics.
Principal, Victoria Michael praised the results, saying: "These achievements are the result of our pupils’ hard work, the dedication of our staff, and the support of our families. We are proud of every student and thrilled to see them flourish academically and personally."
With results like these, Saint Wilfrid’s remains a beacon of learning, inspiration, and opportunity — preparing its pupils not just for exams, but for bright, successful futures.
Standout performers include Zeiad Ali and Ashton Whittam who both walked away with all 9s and one 8 grade. Ashton said “I got what I wanted and will be studying Chemistry, Biology and PE next year. I’m thankful for the staff at St Wilfrid’s who have helped me grow as person and grow in confidence, especially through things like the House System. The teachers were really supportive in helping us all revise and I’m very proud of how I’ve done.”
Another student with all 9s and 8s was Jessica Wright, who didn’t think she’d done so well. She said “I am feeling genuinely happy and so relieved! I put so much effort in – because I cared and because it matters - and it now finally feels like it has paid off. The teachers are so invested in everyone and I felt like I had strong relationships with them all, which massively helped me throughout the year.”
Emma Hanson, an ever-present figure in all aspects of Academy life throughout Years 7-11, was delighted with her results. “I’m very happy with my results and definitely got what I wanted. I’ve become more confident while I’ve been here and tried to embrace every opportunity that has come my way.” Her mum also added: “The teachers have been brilliant and supportive in so many ways.”
The support at St Wilfrid’s was highlighted by many we spoke to this morning. Amy Partington described how the additional support during exam season, including the provision of extra resources and additional revision sessions, really helped her prepare for exams, which turned out to be “easier than I thought.” Fallon Golden, a member of the yearbook team, said “The morning pep talks and prayers before exams really helped us all. Teachers didn’t put the pressure on us – they encouraged us but didn’t nag. I really enjoyed working on the yearbook – I became friends with students I didn’t know before and we are so happy with how it turned out.”
