The return of the Gym and Dance Show saw some fantastic acts taking to the stage.
The show was opened by Miss Hardman’s Gymnastics Club, who showcased their unique talents to The Greatest Showman soundtrack. This was followed by a number of smaller Acro and Rhythmic gymnastics pieces performed by some of our exceptional Year 7s.
Isaac (Y11) performed a musical interlude to the crowd as the mats were moved, ready for the dance section of the evening. All of the dancers that took to the stage brought enthusiasm and confidence and the audience really did get their money’s worth. The Year 7 & 8 Dance Club performed the first of their two pieces in Act 1, sandwiched between a number of exceptional solo and duet performances.
After the interval, and for the first time during the show's history, we had a live Ceilidh band play a small set for our Ceilidh dancers. The band was led by Mr Bolton (who dedicated so much time and effort into pulling this together) with Miss Hardman and Eleanor (Y8) doing the calling. A few more sensational performances continued the show until the Year 7 & 8 Dance Club returned. This year they have been taught by Sixth Former Lily Hilton (Y13) who was taking part in her last ever Gym and Dance Show after featuring in every one we've put on whilst she's been at the Academy!! The experiences and memories she has provided for the younger dancers will last a lifetime. A final point of recognition goes to Anaya (Y11) - we were very lucky to have her perform two highly emotive pieces - we wish her all the best in her application to Rambert dance company next year.
A huge thank you must go to all of the performers who took part, all of the staff who contributed both on stage and behind the scenes, to the audience and of course to the parents - together you all made the show such a success!
We cant wait to do it all again next year!
