This cutting-edge facility is set to revolutionise the sporting experience for students. It opens up many opportunities for the Academy’s sports programme and PE provision, as well as further benefitting the local community.
The pitch’s synthetic turf offers a safe, consistent and high-performance playing surface for a variety of sports. The turf features a 9v9 football pitch and is also divided horizontally into 3 to accommodate smaller group matches and training sessions. There are also some new additional parking spaces to the rear and the perimeter around the pitch makes it spectator friendly.
“We wanted to provide students with a high quality environment which would aid their physical development and continue to foster their love for fitness. The quality surface and powerful floodlights will enable students to improve their skills and participate in after-school events throughout the year, either for inter-school matches, training sessions or as part of the All Stars programme. At lunchtime it will provide an opportunity for students to play football and enjoy some exercise as part of their lunch break.“ said Mr Stamford, Learning Area Coordinator for Physical Education.
The Academy rents out both pitches through Edu-Lettings, along with a number of other sporting, classroom and multi-purpose spaces. The new addition is already proving popular with sporting clubs and organisations from across the borough.
